How to use this with your child
Use together, never solo. Child side (front, ages 3-8) + parent guide (back).
Child side
- My body belongs to me.
- My private parts are the parts covered by my swimsuit.
- I can say "No!" or "Stop!" if a touch doesn't feel OK, even to someone I know.
- We don't keep secrets about touching. Surprises are OK; secrets that make me feel bad are not.
- If something feels wrong, I tell a safe adult from my Helping Hand.
- It is never my fault, and I won't be in trouble for telling.
Activity: Surprise or Secret?
Colour the cards: a birthday present = a surprise to keep; someone says "don't tell your mum" = tell a grown-up.
Parent guide (back)
- Use correct names for body parts; it helps children speak up clearly.
- Keep the talk short, calm and repeated, like road safety.
- Respect your child's "no" to hugs and tickles, so they learn their no matters.
- If your child tells you something worrying: stay calm, listen, and thank them. For advice, contact 911.
You can also call Childhelp 1-800-422-4453 for advice.
Print tips
- Print at 100% scale — not “fit to page”, so the sizes stay true.
- Cards print best on thicker paper; laminate them for a school bag or wallet.
- The ink-saver version is outlines only, so children can colour it in themselves.
- Keep one copy on the fridge and one where the family already looks every day.
