How to use this with your child
Scene switches by region: pool, beach, river, lake, well, canal, bath.
Ages 4-7
- I only go near water with a grown-up watching.
- I wait for "yes" before I get in.
- I wear my float or life jacket when a grown-up says so.
- If I see someone in trouble, I shout for a grown-up. I don't jump in.
Ages 8-10 add
- Swim between the flags at beaches with lifeguards.
- Rivers, canals and lakes can be deep, cold and fast, even when they look calm.
- To help someone: Shout, Throw (something that floats), Call 911. Don't go in.
Grown-up corner
- Watch children all the time in and near water, without phones.
- Cover wells, tanks and buckets, and fence pools.
Print tips
- Print at 100% scale — not “fit to page”, so the sizes stay true.
- Cards print best on thicker paper; laminate them for a school bag or wallet.
- The ink-saver version is outlines only, so children can colour it in themselves.
- Keep one copy on the fridge and one where the family already looks every day.
