About this story

Every night when the stars come out, the old playground on Maple Street wakes up for its secret midnight adventure: the swings sway, the slide glows, and the seesaw bounces in the moonlight. There's Sunny the Swing, cheerful and ready to play; tall proud Slider the Slide; Seesaw Sam; twirling Merry-Go-Round Rosie; and Monkey Bar Max, whose arms stretch wide like a friendly bridge. But one midnight, Sunny sighs — nobody plays with her anymore. And that's when her playground friends show her that the magic was never only for daytime: a night of shooting stars, sleeping owls, and swinging so high her rope touches a twinkling star. A gentle, magical bedtime story about friendship and noticing who feels left out.

  • Midnight — the very middle of the night, twelve o'clock
  • Sway — to swing gently back and forth
  • Gleam — to shine with a soft light
  • Enthusiasm — big, excited energy that spreads to others
  • Cheer — to call out happy words to a friend
  • Twinkle — to sparkle with tiny flashes of light
  • Droop — to hang down sadly, like Sunny's ropes
  • Wonder — the feeling you get when something amazing happens
