About this story
Raya loves her shiny red truck — 'vroom, vroom' every morning — so when new neighbor Sami politely asks to play, she hugs it tighter and says no. But Sami's sad face leaves a strangely uncomfortable feeling inside her. Mama helps her look at it: Raya remembers being told she couldn't hold Grandma's teddy, and how sad that felt — 'that caring feeling is empathy,' Mama explains. Raya's heart softens, she bravely offers a turn, and the day becomes a lesson in sharing: taking turns building the tallest tower with Lina's blocks, splitting six cookies three ways ('that's fairness'), and Sami bravely sharing his treasured blue race car back — because one act of sharing inspires more, spreading like gentle ripples from heart to heart. By bedtime, Raya is excited to share all over again tomorrow.
