About this story

Leo the lion cub is very shy. He hides behind the tall grass in the savanna while the other cubs play, peeking out but staying hidden, wanting to join but too nervous. Butterflies fill his tummy and his paws shake a little. When he finally tries to roar, only a tiny whisper comes out — and the other cubs giggle. Embarrassed, Leo hangs his head and walks away. But Mama Lion finds him under the shady tree and offers the advice that changes everything: 'That's okay, my dear. Start with small steps. Practice a little each day, and you'll grow stronger.' So Leo practices — quietly at first, sometimes squeaking, sometimes too soft — waiting, breathing, and trying again. Slowly the roar grows louder, his confidence grows with it, his friends notice and gather to cheer ('You can do it, Leo!'), and one morning, Leo decides to try something brave. A gentle, complete story about shyness, practice, and finding your voice.
